February 2010 - Lardner Park Victoria - Trucks In Action

Feb19 to Feb21. FDA will be exhibiting along with its sister Company, Flexdrive Rotational Moulding (FRM) at the truck show at Lardner Park. Featured products will be Roll-A-Gate tautliner suspension system, SCC load restraint products and FDA's range of products for the transport industry. FRM will be displaying its COSMO multi-use collapsible containers.

New Detachable Micro Adjust control head

These controls are designed for use in applications where extremely precise settings, such as engine RPM’s, are required. The ‘Red Button’ in the centre of the knob allows for course adjustment. It also doubles as an emergency button, by depressing it you can return the Vernier to idle position in one quick stroke.

The control head offers a full 75mm (3”) stroke and suits our 80 series (8mm casing) and 100 series (10mm casing) cables.

The head can be disconnected from the cable to allow for easy installation of the Vernier simply by removing one nut. This facilitates the easy removal and replacement of the cable should it be damaged or need to be re-routed without the need to remove the head from the control panel.

The black outer portion of the knob is used for fine adjustment with 4mm of travel per rotation. The standard friction knob locks the control, totally eliminating creep. The fully threaded high strength composite body and internal lock ball design provides increased load range and extended plunger life.

Flexible Drive Agencies has been appointed National distributor for USA cargo control specialists, Security Chain Company. The range includes load restraint products for trucks and trailers and a cargo guard designed to protect product and webbing.

YAMS Yellow Activity Monitoring System

FDA has been appointed distributor for the Yellow Activity Monitoring System (YAMS), developed and manufactured by Kinetic Electronic Designs.
The YAMS system is suitable for any mobile or stationary equipment that needs to be monitored for work time.

The system consists of a standard Activity Recorder and another Activity Recorder that has a 12 point switch for monitoring different functions. Both include an Hour Meter contact.

Cooper Bussmann has appointed Flexible Drive Agencies P/L as agent for their range of Circuit Protection Power Distribution and Wiring Accessory products especially as applied to the Specialised vehicle market segment. FDA Product Manager Robert Chisholm stated 'this fits neatly with our program to increase the depth of 'the package' that we can offer our specialist customers. It is a perfect compliment to our Honeywell sensing and control range and allows us to add value at our plant in Kensington supporting our stated goal to keep Aussies employed.'

Appointment of Business Development Manager - Major Projects

Nigel Standaloft has been appointed FDA Business Development Manager - Major Projects. Nigel in conjunction with senior company personnel has taken on with gusto the task of a National Program for the development of defense work for Australia and New Zealand. Managing Director Ian Hocking commented 'this is another step for FDA toward our goal of value adding to the defense forces'. Following the appointment FDA has been successful in negotiations with a leading ship builder to have a Uni-Flex remote operating system installed to overcome the problem operation of a valve situated in a confined area. This is seen as another step forward for FDA's defense capabilities.

B.W. Elliott Manufacturing signs exclusive distribution and manufacturing agreement.

Flexible Drive Agencies P/L now has exclusive rights to Elliott Manufacturing for Australia New Zealand and Papua New Guinea for its unique Uniflex remote control actuation system. The system provides improved remote control of valves for marine vessels and other equipment. Managing Director Ian Hocking says the package is an improvement on many of the systems in use on Navy and patrol vessels throughout the world. 'our task is to service the Pacific/Asian areas with our expertise and the support of B.W. Elliott' he said.

FDA Celebrates 18 Years

Flexible Drive Agencies celebrated 18 years since its formation in 1985. During that time the Company has developed exceptional expertise in the provision of solutions in windscreen washer systems control systems both mechanical and electro-mechanical. The purchase of the Datatron company in 2000 introduced electronic capabilities and FDA's association with international manufacturing leaders like Maxima USA (Datcon and Stewart Warner) Nippon Cable Systems (Japan) Elliott Controls (USA) Doga (Spain) Lord (USA) Hale (Austria) Honeywell (USA) reads like a who's who in international manufacturing.

Appointment of new Managing Director

At the December Board meeting Directors appointed Mr. Ian Hocking as Managing Director of Flexible Drive Agencies . Additionally Mr. Ron Hugo has accepted the appointment as Managing Director of Flexdrive Cables Australia Pty. Ltd. and as Director of Engineering for Flexible Drive Agencies Pty. Ltd. These appointments are effective 1st January 2003.
